About Durham City of Sanctuary

We are part of the nationwide City of Sanctuary movement. Based in County Durham, we work to build opportunities for introductions and friendship between sanctuary seekers and local people, helping new arrivals to integrate into our communities. Our aim is to create a culture of welcome for people seeking sanctuary from war and persecution.

Purpose of the post

The DCoS coordinator & communications administrator will be a member of the Durham City of Sanctuary team that works to promote a culture of welcome to all newly arrived individuals seeking sanctuary across County Durham.

Their role is to support and facilitate the development and continuous operation of DCoS activities, supporting DCoS members on a weekly basis and attending drop-in groups, following all Covid guidelines.

The post holder will work closely with trustees and volunteers, supporting the central DCoS network, building relationships and partnerships with local groups and organisations, and supporting fundraising activities.
